You make it sound like Adobe are bad, they got to the number one slot because the program on the whole is the best one for the job. Would take issue with your above statement though. Natural progression rather than radical change I suppose.

I’m sure a user of Version 4 could within a short space of time use the latest version and not have to readjust their way of working too much to be productive. Why fix something that is not really broke. I did say one of the best not the best again IMHO. Well maybe it is because they practically have a monopolyĮach to their own, but I’m used to Photoshop, it does what I need it to do, know most of the short cuts, the tools are there despite not being where you’d like them to be, and it produces the goods, but you feel differently which is fine. I think 3D apps are lightyears ahead of 2D apps concerning interface design, if only because of the sheer incredible number of complex functions to cramp into it. (at least in 6/7 you could not even add or change the tools in the working palette, whish I could make pencil-brush-airbrush separate first level icons again like in PS4). I know they finally gave in to user demand and took away the 999 pixel airbrush limit, but they sure took their time with it IMHO photoshop has a nice stable core and a good memory usage but it is nowhere near a “best working environment”'- well maybe it is because they practically have a monopoly,so best means “the only”- but the software is evolving in snail like tempo (I dont have ne CE PS, do they have a preview in underlying layers now in Liquify mode? it was ridiculous they did not include that in PS6/7). I know what you mean, Photoshop, in my opinion, has one of the best working environments out there. Veiws for example - you can have the four basic views, and add more if you want, but there is nothing stopping you using just one, or even two, the choice is yours. You can tailor it to how you want to work or how comfortable you feel. In a way it gives you too many options, but you don’t have to use them just because they exist. I suppose it could be regarded as a cirticism of Cinema but its not really - the program and its interface is too flexible. Yes, the interface can seem very muddled at first, but once you get into working it makes sense. I’m fairly new to the program myself but not to 3D.
